Rocco Mediate has won four PGA Tour victories, including the 2000 Buick Open, the 1999 Phoenix Open, 1993 K-Mart Greater Greensboro Open, and the 1991 Doral-Ryder Open. These wins include a come-back after undergoing surgery in 1994 for back problems, which threatened his career. Other victories include the 2000 Wendy's Three-Tour Challenge with Phil Mickelson and Notah Begay, 1999 Pebble Beach Invitational, and the Perrier Paris Open in 1992.
Rocco first became interested in golf during high school. It was in college that he began to construct his swing, guided by PGA Senior Tour member Jim Ferree and Florida Southern University coach Charlie Matlock.
As a means of preventing back pain, Rocco began using a long putter, and, in 1991, he became the first player using a long putter to win on the PGA tour at the Doral-Ryder Open.
When not on the golf course, Rocco enjoys good cigars, good wine, good fishing and good times with his family.
