Max Kellerman joined ESPN in September 1998 as studio analyst for ESPN2 Friday Night Fights, the weekly series which premiered October 2, 1998 on ESPN2.
Prior to joining ESPN, Kellerman hosted his own weekly public access television show Max On Boxing on Manhattan Cable TV in New York City (more than 400 shows from 1989-98). He began the show at age 16 and in just two years was mentioned on MTV where Adam Curry prefaced his opinions on boxing by saying, "Now, I know I'm no Max Kellerman . . ."
The call-in show has featured celebrity phoners including Dustin Hoffman, and anyone seeking Kellerman's perspective, predictions and insight. Max On Boxing paved the way to Kellerman's appearance on Late Night with David Letterman, and Live at the Play-by-Play (on MSG Television Network), and inspired articles to be written on him in "The Ring" and "New York" magazines.
Kellerman proved he could bob and weave away from boxing in 1994 when he and his brother Sam had a hip-hop CD entitled "Young Man Rumble" released on Roughhouse Records. It was produced by John Oates of Hall & Oates fame. Edge magazine's review said, "This brother duo figures to become a major hip-hop force."
Kellerman, 27, is a native of New York City and a 1998 graduate of Columbia University with a BA in history.
