Joel Edwards won the 2001 PGA Tour Air Canada Championship. He tied for 5th in the Honda Classic and for 7th in the Buick Challenge. His 2001 money ranking is 46th, with $1,193,528 in winnings.
Joel's best tour event in 2000 was third in the Shell Houston Open and fifth in the Buick Challenge.
In January 1998, he had back surgery, which kept him off the links for most of the year. He played in only six events from May to August; however, in 1999 he had a very successful year on the Buy.com Tour.
His best finishes in 1999 include winning the NIKE Mississippi Gulf Coast Open; coming in second at the NIKE New Mexico Classic; tying for second at the NIKE Shreveport Open and the NIKE Boise Open; tying for third at the NIKE Florida Classic; tying for fifth at the NIKE Permian Basin Open; tying for sixth in the NIKE TOUR Championship; tying for seventh at the NIKE Inland Empire Open; and tying for tenth at the NIKE Oregon Classic.
When not busy playing golf, Joel still dreams of playing third base for the New York Yankees.
