
An avid golfer, Gary and his partner Shane Rawley finished in second place during the team competition of the CPT's 1998 Joe Morgam Celebrity Classic in Sacramento. The team of Carter/Rawley lost a one-hole playoff to the team of Truck Robinson and Charlie Chriss During the tournament. He played in three AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM where he was teamed with Mark Calcvecchia and finished in the crystal each time. He also played in three Bob Hope events where he won the amateur flight in 1990. Shot his career-best 70 at the LPGA Office Depot Tournament Pro-Am in January 1999.
Gary Carter played baseball for 18 years, during that time he played for the New York Mets, Montreal, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. His last season was in 1992 with Montreal.
