
Michael Hurdzen, PhD, is a golf course architect. He has been an international keynote speaker on golf and the environment. Mike is a highly effective expert witness in golf course lawsuits. He has written a textbook on golf course design, which has also been translated into German and Korean. Additionally, Mike is a retired Green Beret Colonel.
Golf Digest has called Hurdzan "his field's leader on environmental issues". Golf World magazine has honored him with their prestigious "ARCHITECT OF THE YEAR" award in 1997, and in 1999 he received the same award from The Board Room magazine. Crittenden GolfInc magazine (July 1999 issue) includes Dr. Hurdzan among its "Power 25, the most influential people in golf." Golf Digest named him among the "Top 36 Most Powerful People in Golf'. Hurdzan (8) has been named among the Top Ten "Hottest" Architects in the U.S. by Golf World.
Mike shares his knowledge when he teaches 2-day seminars for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, (GCSAA) on "Design, Construction and Renovation for I.P.M." and "Golf Greens: Theory, Design, Construction and Maintenance," in addition to "Environmental Impacts and cost effective construction of Golf Courses" for the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
In addition to playing golf, Mike enjoys collecting golf antiques.
