Donna Andrews was born in Lynchburg Virginia were she began her long and promising golf career by winning the 1983-84 Virginia State Championship and became the five time winner of the Virginia Women's State Amateur Championship. Andrews continued her golfing as a collegiate player for the University of North Carolina where she won the 1989 Furman University Invitational and was second team All-American.
Andrews then began her pro-rookie career in 1990. In 2001 she recorded her season best finish at the Williams Championship. There she tied for second and carded an impressive and career-low of 62 during the second round. This personal victory came in spite of an injury to her shoulder and persistent back pain after a horseback riding injury in June of 1999.
Two years later, in early 2001, Andrews suffered another pitfall as she learned of her mothers fight with breast cancer. While some might have given up the rest of the season, Andrews, inspired by her mothers strength and positive attitude, played in the Tuscan Tournament just two weeks after her mother's surgery. In that same year, she accumulated three top-10 finishes and the 37th spot on the 2001 money list. Andrews mother is recovering wonderfully and is a constant inspiration to Andrews in both her career and life.
Andrews has served two years on the LPGA Board, including a year as the president. Despite her volunteer hours, she continues to practice her golf game and spend time at her Pinehurst North Carolina home with her dogs and horses.
