Davey Johnson spent 13 Big League seasons playing second base for the Orioles, Braves, Phillies and Cubs. He was a four-time All-Star and earned three Gold Glove awards. He played on two World Series Championship teams with the Orioles.
As a manager, Davey Johnson is recognized as being among the best in the history of the game. He began his career as a manager with the New York Mets in 1985 and directed the team to the 1986 World Series title. During five of his six seasons in New York, the Mets won 90 or more games. Johnson also guided the Mets to two division titles and placed second or higher in the division each year.
Johnson managed the Reds (1993-1995), Orioles (1996-1997) and Dodgers (1999-2000). Under his leadership, the Reds played in the 1995 NLCS and the Orioles made the 1996 and 1997 ALCS.
In 1997, Johnson was named American League Manager of the Year. During ten full seasons, teams managed by Johnson never finished lower then second.
In addition to his life in baseball, Davey greatly enjoys playing golf. He participates in celebrity tours and is a scratch.
