Dave Christensen graduated from East Tennessee State University with a major in Business Management; however during his college career he ended up winning three times at the East Tennessee State University in the Liberty College Invitational. As an amateur player, Dave won the 1997 Minnesota Amateur Championship and was 3rd Team All-American in both 1998 and 1999 before going on to play in U.S. Japan Cup Matches.
Three of his second-place performances came in his first four events during his rookie year in 2001. He set a course record 64 in the Barefoot Classic the same year. Dave went on to finish in the top 20 on the Canadian Tour Order of Merit from 2001-2003, including a career best No. 9 in 2001. In 2002, he made the cut in the Bell Canadian Open PGA Event and in 2003 finished 17th on the Canadian Tour Order of Merit (Money List). In 2004, Dave had six top 25 finishes including four top ten and later he finished 56th on the Nationwide Tour money list, making 2004 another winning year.
Dave's best finish on the 2005 Nationwide Tour is T36th at the Bellsouth Panama Championship.
Dave admires Jack Nicklaus as his professional hero; however he credits his father for getting him started in the game.
