A native of Arkansas, Cliff Harris attended Quachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, earning a degree in math with a minor in physics. Following a stellar collegiate career, Cliff was destined for the NFL.
Signing on as a free agent, he started at Free Safety for the Dallas Cowboys. After a military tour of duty interrupted his rookie season, Cliff regained his Free Safety position and quickly emerged as one of the NFL's finest. He consistently led the team in tackles, interceptions, punt and kickoff returns.
During a fantastic 10-year career with the Cowboys, Cliff racked up an impressive array of honors, including:
- Named First Team All NFL, four successive seasons
- Only He and Roger Staubach started in both of the 70's Super Bowl Victories
- All Time Dream Team Free Safety (Sports Illustrated Classic Special Issue)
- All Time Cowboy Super Bowl Team (Sports Illustrated)
- Named to Pro Team of the 1970's by The Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee
- Inducted to NAIA Hall of Fame in Kansas City and the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame
- NFL Alumni Legend Award
- Free Safety on the Madden NFL Video Game
Co-authoring Tales of the Dallas Cowboys, Cliff and former teammate Charlie Waters share some of the memorable moments during four of the greatest seasons in the history of the Dallas Cowboys when they played side by side.
Currently residing in Rockwall, Texas, Cliff is President of Energy Transfer Group, an electricity marketing firm, and is active in civic affairs and charities, among them, the Cliff Harris FCA Tournament started by coach Tom Laundry and the Cliff Harris/Charlie Waters Celebrity Golf Tournament.
