
Carl Paulson's best finish on the PGA TOUR in 2001 was a tie for 3rd at the WORLDCOM CLASSIC - The Heritage of Golf. He also tied for 6th in the Southern Farm Bureau Classic He ranks 99th in money leaders on the PGA TOUR.
Carl tied for sixth in the 2000 Buick Open, which was one of his best PGA finishes to date. He became a member of the PGA TOUR in 1995-96 and earned his PGA TOUR card for 1995 after finishing T37 at the 1994 PGA TOUR National Qualifying Tournament. He played in 21 events in 1995, made 10 cuts and finished No. 183 on the money list.
Carl took medalist honors at the 1995 PGA TOUR National Qualifying Tournament. He ranked third among eagle leaders on 1996 PGA TOUR and finished in top 10 in driving distance both years he was a TOUR member (No. 8 in 1995 with 278.2 and T8 in 1996 at 280.4). He was an All-America selection and Southeastern Conference Player of the Year in 1993.
He earned fully exempt status on the 2000 PGA TOUR by finishing No. 1 on the 1999 Buy.com money list with $223,051, the second highest single-season total in the 10-year history of the BUY.COM TOUR. Then he set a BUY.COM TOUR record for consecutive starts when he teed it up at the Omaha Classic, his 79th straight tournament. He captured his first career victory at the $375,000 Utah Classic, his record-setting 83rd consecutive event. He posted rounds of 68-64-65- 69 to finish 22-under par, six shots ahead of his nearest competitor. His 5-stroke, 54-hole lead and 6-stroke margin of victory were the largest on TOUR in 1999. He collected $67,500 for his first win and participated in the Ganter Cup the next day, where he lost his match play event to David Duval.
